Colin Haskins – Co-Owner, Founder & Executive Director of National Beat Poetry Foundation with Debbie Tosun Kilday-(10-2015-Present) – Co-Founder of the National Beat Poetry Festivals & International Beat Poetry Festivals (2015). Co-Founder of the Connecticut Beat Poetry Festival-(2008). He is Founder of Free Poets Collective (2010-present). Colin was Poetry Director for 22 Years at The Buttonwood Tree Cultural Arts Center in Middletown, CT (1995-2017). Colin currently hosts monthly Beat poetry and music events & his Kerouac Cafe at The Licia & Mason Beekley Community Library, 10 Central Ave, New Hartford, CT. 06057, and is United States Representative for the Woman Scream International Poetry and Arts Festival (2012-present). He is also Connecticut Field Representative, for the North American Dogman Project (2016-present). Colin Haskins is a writer, poet and poetry event promoter who is dedicated to creating new venues locally and throughout the world to bring poets, authors, artists, and musicians together. Haskins has published seven books of poetry and is working on several more. Haskins published The Ekphrastics Book of Poems, for The New Britain Museum of American Art. Colin solely created and hosted the still ongoing Spoken Word Series. He created and managed many programs including, One Soldier One Poem ( honoring CTs passed War Veterans ), World Language Night, and Pawetry, a fundraiser to assist animal shelters. He also founded the Legends of Poetry. Haskins has organized and worked with many National Landmarks located in Connecticut including The Mark Twain House and Museum, The Harriett Beecher Stowe House and Center, The Charter Oak Cultural Center, The Webb Dean Stevens Museum, The New Britain Museum of American Art, The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts & Cultural Center, Artist Tree Tea House, Gallery 53, City Steam Brewery, Noelke Art Gallery, (CRT) Community Renewal Team (HTFD) – National Arts Program. Colin has organized and hosted events at libraries throughout the state including South Windsor, West Hartford, Hartford, Ellington, Middletown, Farmington, Cheshire, Meriden and Durham, New Hartford, and Litchfield. He has also worked with many organizations such as the Meriden Humane Society, The Queenie Foundation, Fidelco Dogs, The National Theater of the Deaf, The American School for the Deaf, and The American Red Cross (New Britain Office).
