About me
Barry Hellman is a clinical psychologist and poet, and author of 'The King of Newark', published by Finishing Line Press. His poems have appeared in literary journals, anthologies, playbills, and broadsides, and he is the founder, curator, and host of the Cape Cod Poetry Group Poetry & Music Series. Barry leads workshops on the art, craft, and performance of poetry, publishes the Cape Cod Poetry Group's page on Facebook, and is an advisor to WCAI’s Poetry Sunday with Mindy Todd. He has been a featured poet both on and off Cape, and prior to founding the Cape Cod Poetry Group co-curated and co-hosted the Poets Corner Poetry & Music Open Mic at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in S. Yarmouth, founded and led the first Writers Group at the Eastham Library, and designed and hosted poetry events and workshops in the Chapel In The Pines Sunday Program Series in Eastham. He holds a B.A. in English, an M.S. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology, and taught as an adjunct faculty member in the doctoral program at Antioch New England Graduate School. He was in private practice for many years, and his poems often explore relationships with family, friends, lovers, and others, existential issues, and internal landscapes.
